The Ninth Wave

The Ninth Wave is a new opera, composed by Laura Nevitt with libretto by Cailin Smith. It is based on an ancient Irish love story, told today through a queer lens.

2024-2025 Season
Voice of Iris' inaugural season will feature three staged song cycles in the fall and a new choral opera in the spring.

We Are the Flame, We Will Awaken: An Evening of Staged Song Cycles

This performance will feature three staged song cycles: Where They Hide by E. Isaiah Hopper; The Sharp Edges of the Earth by Laura Nevitt; and three songs by Dinorá de Carvahlo: Água que passa, O ar, and O fogo. Each meditate on themes of magic and spirituality, whether drawn from the earth, ancestry, or the divine.

Dinah: a story in song

Dinah: a story in song is a devised theatre piece telling the story of Dinah using existing art songs and poems. Using a collective creation process, Dinah's story will come to life again. Please be advised that Dinah's story includes sexual assault and violence.​
